Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that targets the soft tissues, muscles or the nerves in multiple sites. It is a musculoskeletal disorder that is later accompanied by changes in sleep patterns, mood swings, irritation and fatigue.


Symptoms for this syndrome accumulate over time and are sometimes triggered after surgery, infection or post traumatic stress. This condition is mostly found among women rather than men. It is known that people having fibromyalgia are also prey to depression, headaches, insomnia from psychological stress.


There is no cure for fibromyalgia. However, some pain management medications and trigger point injections can help keep the symptoms in control. Stress management exercises are also proven to be helpful to patients.
