Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

The failed back surgery syndrome happens when the doctors have treated the possible pathology causing the pain with one or more operative procedures but the pain has continued or increased and more operative procedures are less likely to cure the cause of the occurring pain. It should be noted here that scarring of the spinal elements including nerve roots may be a reason why a failed back surgery syndrome condition might arise.

Several post operative exercises are recommended by pain management specialists such as stretching workout sessions that might prevent the pain from reaching epidural scar tissues and fibrosis. Also, different medications may be prescribed. Spinal cord stimulation device has a good success rate in treating such condition.
